The Project Partners

The SMART Fintry Project was delivered by a consortium of partners: Fintry Development Trust, Veitch Cooper, Energy Assets, Good Energy and Heriot Watt University.

Fintry Development TrustFintry Development Trust is based in Fintry, Stirlingshire. The aim of the trust is to reduce local carbon emissions and enhance the sustainability of the Fintry community. Since beginning in 2007, FDT have delivered a range of energy efficiency and renewable technology projects within the village. The trust is also well known for shared ownership of Earlsburn Windfarm, community wood fuel projects and delivering district heating to areas of the village. In 2012, FDT was awarded Best Community Initiative at the Scottish Green Energy Awards. Fintry is an exemplar flagship community and all projects are replicable in other communities within the UK and further afield.

Veitch Cooper Ltd

Veitch Cooper Limited are a Project Services Company registered in Scotland (SC 481213) who specialise in the development of local energy solutions. Our mission is to provide a step change in energy affordability within the UK and Ireland and in doing so reduce emissions and create opportunities for wider economic growth. We have an in depth knowledge of the factors affecting successful low carbon  infrastructure  project delivery and can access an extensive network of technical and commercial specialists with skills and experience necessary to address these.

As an accredited meter asset manager, meter operator and data collector/aggregator, we work alongside major energy suppliers and partner with some of the country’s biggest brands and best-known public sector organisations. They look to us for advanced metering services, data supply, analytics, load control and infrastructure services to help them optimise their gas, water and electricity consumption.

Heriot Watt University

Heriot-Watt University is a research-led university specialising in science and engineering, business and management, languages and design. Our research covers the full spectrum of application from fundamental and theoretical studies, through research of immediate relevance to industry and commerce, to practice-based studies. High quality research can be found in each of our Schools, which are configured to provide the maximum of opportunities for multi- and inter-disciplinary programmes.

Together with Edinburgh University, we have formed the Joint Research Institute in Energy, ( which forms part of the Energy Research Partnership in Engineering and Mathematics.
